The Minister of Economy and Planning, Mr. Samir Abdelhafidh, met on Wednesday, 22 July 2026, with Mr. Mark Davis, Regional Director for the Southern and Eastern Mediterranean at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), accompanied by Mr. George Akhalkatsi, the newly appointed Head of the EBRD Office in Tunisia.
The meeting, which was also attended by Ms. Nodira Mansurova, the outgoing Head of the EBRD Office in Tunisia, provided an opportunity to review the various areas of ongoing cooperation and explore prospects for further strengthening the partnership, particularly in the priority sectors identified under the 2026–2030 Development Plan, including water resources, energy, infrastructure, transport and private sector development.
The two sides also emphasized the importance of regularly monitoring the project portfolio in order to accelerate disbursements and enhance the efficiency of implementing EBRD-financed projects.
On this occasion, Mr. Samir Abdelhafidh congratulated Mr. George Akhalkatsi on his appointment as Head of the EBRD Office in Tunisia and wished him every success in his new responsibilities. He reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to further strengthening cooperation and coordination between the two sides in order to deepen the longstanding partnership.
The Minister also paid tribute to Ms. Nodira Mansurova for her valuable efforts throughout her tenure, which significantly contributed to strengthening cooperation between Tunisia and the EBRD in a spirit of mutual trust and respect.
